I know what your thinking. “Ok, summer is just a few months away, if I start now, I’ll be in great shape for summer.” Well let me tell you, your half way right. Summer IS right around the corner, but do you know the exercises you should be focusing on to get in the best shape in the quickest time? Here’s a quick run down for you.

1. Cardio, Cardio, Cardio!

This should be spot on, number one on ANYONE’S list, only second to your diet. Here’s the deal. The more cardio you do NOW, the more calories you will burn and greater you will look come summer time. At a MINIMUM it’s optimal to do 30 minutes of cardio training a day. Personally, with these last few months before summer time, I like to go 30 minutes alone on the elliptical machine. This is something you can easily build up to in no time at all. The elliptical machine is a great cardio machine for anyone looking to start burning some SERIOUS calories fast.

Along with the 30 minutes on the machine, I also recommend getting out and jogging around the block. Put the dog on a leash or grab your significant other and hit the streets! There’s nothing quite like the fresh air of spring while your getting your exercise in.

2. Circuit Weight Training.

This is going to be a perfect addition to your intense cardio you’ve been busting out. If you focus on 2 to 3 different body parts a day, and do 3-5 sets of 15 per body part at a lower weight, you will notice this becoming a great benefit in terms of additional fat loss in your target areas. I always love to squeeze out more repetitions if possible to increase the fat loss and muscle gain.
